contests & awards
The Washington State Society SAR and it's Chapters sponsor several contests and annual awards programs that allow students and educators to become more involved and engaged in the American Revolutionary period. These awards encourage civic responsibility and duty, creative and effective teaching practices for the classroom, and a deeper understanding of the complicated issues surrounding the war for American independence.
These youth programs begin at the local SAR chapter level and move along to the State Society and then the National level during the scope of each annual competition, wrapping up at the annual National SAR Congress. Please use the links above to learn more about each of our contests. You can also download and print the handouts below to share with your students.
