The Washington SAR is a patriotic, historical, and educational non-profit organization that promotes freedom, respect for our national symbols, and the value of American citizenship. SAR honors our Revolutionary War patriot ancestors by promoting patriotism, serving our communities and educating and inspiring future generations about the founding principles of our Country.
The SAR develops programs to honor, respect, and encourage patriotic display of the flag of the United States, including Flag Day programs for the week ending June 14th each year. The committee also identifies and develops resources on the history of the U.S. Flag for use by state-level SAR societies and individual SAR chapters.
One of the most visible roles of the SAR is rewarding and recognizing the patriotism of our fellow citizens, corporations, businesses, and government agencies that properly display the American Flag by awarding them the SAR Flag Certificate.
